Whilst everyone craves a bit of the Hollywood lifestyle, there have been a few child-stars who have found the experience too much to deal with. Due to these pressures, may tragically died at a young age.

Check out some of these tragic child actors who sadly passed away far too young:

River Phoenix (1970-1993)

River Phoenix made his professional debut in the film River Phoenix (1986) and from there, went on to star in Mosquito Coast, A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, and Little Nikita. In 1988, he gained an Oscar nomination for his portrayal in Running on Empty.

These credits made it seem as though Phoenix was well on his way to worldwide stardom, however on 31st October, 1993, he collapsed and died from a drug overdose on the footpath outside of a West Hollywood nightclub.

Corey Haim (1971-2010)

Fan films of the 80’s would definitely remember Corey Haim. He was best known for his appearances in Firstborn in 1984, The Lost Boys (1987) and many other teen-drama films.

Unfortunately he became involved with drugs due to being sexually abused by those within the film industry. During the 1990s, Haim’s career appeared to dwindle as he became even more reliant on hard-core drugs. In 2010, his mum found him dead in his apartment when he was just 38 years-old.

Gary Coleman (1968-2010)

Gary Coleman’s fame rocketed when he starred in the 1980’s TV series Diff’rent Stokes. Throughout his career, Coleman stayed at just 4-foot-8 in height due to his serious health issues.

At just 42 years-old, the many years of suffering from ill-health contributed to his early death in 2010. His cause of death was reported to be a brain haemorrhage after falling and hitting his head.

Brittany Murphy (1977-2009)

Brittany Murphy was a major hit in the 1990’s and early 2000’s, securing roles in films such as 1995’s Clueless, Girl Interrupted and Sin City.

The world was shocked when this beloved star was pronounced dead after suffering a cardiac arrest. According to an autopsy report, she had suffered from ‘acute pneumonia’ and had ‘chronic iron deficiency’ which may have contributed to her passing.

Brad Renfro (1982–2008)

Brad Renfo was an actor who is perhaps best-known for his role in the 1994 film The Client which he played at just 11 years-old.

He then went into star in other films such as Tom and Huck, Sleepers and Apt Pupil. Whilst many thought he was well on his way to securing a huge Hollywood career, no-one predicted what would come next.

Renfo became reliant on drugs in the 1990’s and by 2002 was forced into rehab to try and kick the habit. Unfortunately, this recovery never came to be. On 15th January 2008, he was found dead by a group of friends; with his cause of death linking to a heroin overdose.
