If you were a teen in the 80’s, the likelihood is that you were addicted to the popular soap, Brookside. Running between 1982-2003, many now-famous actors began their professional career on the Channel 4 soap. So, what are the Brookside stars doing with their lives now?
Since leaving Brookside, Anna Friel really hit the big time. Known for playing Beth Jordache in the soap and her dramatic lesbian kiss with onscreen love interest Margaret, she later went on to star in American smash- hit Pushing Daisies and 1998 wartime drama, Landgirls. She also more recently starred in the TV mini-series, Neverland in 2011.
After leaving Brookside, Alex Fletcher who played Jacqui Farnham decided to back out of the spotlight for a short while to become a qualified fitness instructor. In 2010, she returned to soap land and joined the cast of Hollyoaks; playing the role of Diane O’Connor. She has a 10 year old daughter named Yasmin.
Since playing her role of Lindsey Corkhill in the soap for over a decade, Claire Sweeney has tried her hand at a variety of television and stage work, with TV credits including Clocking Off, Mersey Beat, 60 Minute Makeover and Celebrity Big Brother. Stage credits have included Hairspray, Chicago and Tell Me On a Sunday. She has one son.
