Coronation Street is a British soap opera shown on ITV since December 1960. The programme centres in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on inner city Salford. In the show’s fictional history, the street was built in the early 1900s and named in honour of the coronation of King Edward VII.
Since its formation in 1960 the show has gone from strength to strength and has housed world class talent over the years, with many of its characters going on to perform in Hollywood and other major roles.
In the present day, there’s much more money flying around than ever before and stars of the show are often seen driving in flash cars and donning the latest high-end fashion brands. Earlier this month a report was released which revealed some of the stars salaries and some of them will shock you. Take a look below and see for yourself.
Jack P. Shepherd
Jack, who plays David Platt is said to rake in £200,000 a year to play the troubled son of Gail, according to The Sun Online.
The 29-year-old joined the cast in 2000 at the age of just 12, replacing child star Thomas Ormson.
A soap insider claimed that Jack’s salary makes him one of the “new breed” actors on Corrie to break the £200,000 mark.
