As the old saying goes, nothing lasts forever. As Stephen King wrote, in the novel 11/22/63, “Life turns on a dime. Sometimes towards us, but more often it spins away, flirting and flashing as it goes: so long, honey, it was good while it lasted, wasn’t it?” The more you think about it, the truer it becomes.

Some people never dance with the high-life. Some grab it and hold onto it forever. Some find their own wealth and fortune, not necessarily in the form of fame and money, but lose it all the same. Some taste the flashing bulbs of fame but through one thing or another, see it slip through their fingers. And when it happens, they crash down to earth with two choices: to either make for the mountain top once again or move on and accept that their 15 minutes are finally up. Whatever the case may be, all good things must come to an end. And as such, here are a few former soap stars that went on to work regular jobs.

Daniella Westbrook (Eastenders)

Once she was the darling of the Queen Vic pub, but now Daniella Westbrook has to make ends meet pulling pints for real at a London boozer called The Bill Nicholson. In a case of life imitating art, Daniella, 41, has been putting the hours in at the pub in Tottenham, North London. Admirably, when she described her new vocation on Twitter, the out-of-work actress said: ‘I help my mate at her pub @thebillnicn17 it makes me feel useful and I laugh all day.’ Daniella, who was cast as Albert Square matriarch Peggy Mitchell’s daughter at the age of 16, famously battled cocaine addiction which caused her septum – the bridge under her nose – to collapse. More recently, the actress has appeared on reality TV and has even had a stint in Los Angeles. But for now, she’s keeping herself busy at the football pub which is just a stones-throw away from the Spurs ground.
