French Cool Teen, Instagirl, influencer and model Thylane Blondeau has officially been recruited by L’Oréal as its latest brand ambassador. The cosmetics giant, known for its ‘You’re worth it’ slogan announced the news on Wednesday this week, which just so happened be Blondeau’s 16th birthday.

The brand are no doubt looking to tap into the the Generation ‘Z’ market, via Blondeau’s 1 million-plus Instagram followers.

L’Oréal has worked with the emerging model on a less official basis since May 2016. A release from the company explained that she was a “friend of the brand,” having “joined the ‘Lorealista Squad’ for her first red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival,” in 2015.

The young model may look familiar because she’s an uncanny doppelgänger for established model Barbara Palvin, who is also a face of L’Oréal. Or, perhaps you simply recognise Blondeau because, at the tender age of 16, she’s already carved out a major presence with millions of followers across several social media, including Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Snapchat. The French teen joins LOréal’s existing lineup of models, which includes Palvin, Karlie Kloss, Irina Shayk, Alexina Graham and Isabeli Fontana, among others.

InstagramBlondeau’s first appearance for the brand will be for Hydra Genius line. Following that she will join L’Oréal’s hair, makeup and skin-care categories.

“Truly inspiring thousands and thousands of young women, Thylane is a voice for a generation that spends more time connecting to each other than any generation before it, sharing images more than words,” said Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou, L’Oréal’s global brand president, via a statement.

“This new generation deeply needs aspirational models that reimagine and influence beauty through their creativity and styling. L’Oréal Paris is thrilled to welcome Thylane to join the brand that’s driving digitalised beauty forward, to be an ambassador for the most genius products designed for young women looking for self-confidence and empowerment like her,”
he added.

Blondeau also issued a statement relating to the news, writing: “I am so honoured to join the L’Oréal Paris family, which is one of the most amazing beauty brands I always dream about,” she said. She also called L’Oréal “a brand where I feel I can be myself, defending values that matter for me such as self-confidence and self-esteem.”

L’Oréal model Doutzen Kroes took to Instagram to welcome Blondeau to the “family” on Wednesday morning (and also wish her a happy birthday).
