Disgraced mother, Karen Matthews was mobbed during a recent shopping trip as angry parents believed she was taking pictures of children
Police were called in as the exchange became heated between the mother-of-seven and the shoppers, who alleged she was using her mobile phone to photograph their children.
Matthews is well known for her evil plan, in which she had her own nine-year-old daughter kidnapped and hidden away in the hope of generating cash through publicity, before later finding her unharmed.
The 42-year-old was confronted by a mob of parents outside the budget shop as she was stood with a friend, who one alleged she had taken pictures of her children with her mobile phone.
The row began in the shop with one woman and escalated outside before the police had to be called to quell the situation before it potentially came to blows.
The worried parents and confronters asked Matthews to delete the pictures, before hurling abuse at her during the confrontation, which took place at the end of June.
An eyewitness mum said: “All of a sudden I saw all these people run, and literally shout and throw abuse at her basically.
“You could tell it was her. And everyone was shouting it too.
“I don’t know exactly what happened, and I don’t know exactly what was said.
“People were just saying: ‘Can I have your phone, to remove that picture of my child?’”
The incident made its way onto social media, with users hurling their own abuse at Matthews – with some urging locals to be on the watch for the “evil b****”.
Matthews fell into the public eye once again earlier in 2017, when BBC produced and broadcast a dramatised reconstruction reconstruction of the Shannon Matthews case – titled, The Moorside – which re-fuelled everybody’s hatred towards the family.
A spokesman for the police said that officers were called to a disturbance, involving a woman in her early 40s.
