Images of Peter Kay working on Warburtons latest television advertisement have been leaked by a mole and from what we can see, it’s going to be hilarious.
Peter, 43, can be seen dressed – well, topless – as Darcy in a spoof scene from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. And even though a bare-chested hero appears, looking a little like Poldark star Aidan Turner, Peter is bound to have the last laugh.
The comedian lost his shirt as he grabs a scythe in an apparent poke at the famous scene in Poldark.
In the next scene, Peter pulls on full white tails and black top hat as he stands beside a large white steed. A source at the Cheshire film shoot said: “It was typical Peter. He put his heart and soul into it and had a laugh.
“It’s a brilliant advert and everyone will love it.”
Peter replaces Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone, 70, as the face of the Bolton bread brand.
While 5.5million saw the finale of the second series of Car Share last week, Peter disappointed fans by saying there would be no third series, nor a Christmas special.
The show ended with a cliffhanger as his character John Redmond rebuffed the advances of colleague Kayleigh Kitson, played by Sian Gibson, 40.
But Peter said: “You’re better quitting while you’re ahead.
“There’s only so much you can do in a car and the last thing you want to do is ruin it, because it’s a lovely thing.”
But he admits he would love to return to Phoenix Nights – and a third series is already written. Pete’s character Brian Potter was famed for the catchphrase “Garlic bread – it’s the future, I’ve tasted it”.
And while the star is already said to be worth around £50million, another series would certainly earn him a fair old cob.
