Incredible footage has emerged of Everton star Ross Barkley being punched whilst on a night out.
The CCTV clip is believed to have been captured in the early hours of Monday morning at Santa Chupito’s, Liverpool, where Ross was reportedly enjoying a few drinks after his Everton side ended Leicester City’s unbeaten run with a convincing 4-2 victory.
Since sacking their title-winning manager, Claudio Ranieri in February, Leicester City have remained unbeaten in the Premier League. Everton ended that run on Sunday with a brace from star striker, Romelu Lukaku.
Ross Barkley played the full ninety minutes in the game and appears to have celebrated the victory, which sees the Toffees draw level on points with Arsenal in sixth place, by visiting bars in the city-centre.
In the clip, the midfielder can be seen chatting to a bearded man in what looks relatively civil, but things took a turn for the ugly when the man throws a punch into Barkley’s face, sending him backwards out of shot as another punch comes flying in.
Twitter user Heavy Kid posted the footage, which has commentary saying “Barkley’s about to get f*cking bingo’d”.
Others pointed out that the date of the camera shows April 10th highlighted, which suggests the incident happened during the night, in the early hours of Monday morning.
Barkley has been in fine form of late for Everton and fans are hoping his quality can be retained by the club long term and with that, help retain players such as Romelu Lukaku from moving on to bigger clubs.
Reports have recently suggested that the England international needs to move on to further develop his club and progress his international careers respectively, however fans at Goodson Park are desperate to keep the 23-year-old to make up the back bone of the clubs future.
Everton Football Club have confirmed they are aware of the alleged assault and are investigating as to whether their man was involved and to what extent.
