4. He does good deeds but often remains anonymous
During the Gulf War, Jason met a man who worked at RAF Command Headquarters. He told Jason that for fun, they race Trotter style, yellow 3-wheel vans against each other. These vans even had ‘Trotters Independent Traders’ painted on the side.
Amused by the story, Jason told Nicholas Lyndhurst and Buster Merryfield of his meeting with this man in the pub. The other two actors loved the story and the three of them all decided to send a Trotters van out to Kuwait. They slipped in onto a plane that was being used for a supply run to troops; they also added video tapes of Danger Mouse and Count Duckula (both had voice overs from Jason). There were also other supplies added such as chewing gum, toothpaste and cake!
When the plane arrived in Kuwait, the crew collecting the supplies had no idea about the gift from Jason, Lyndhurst and Merryfield. Jason did not want the media to know about their donation because he did not want it to perceived as a publicity stunt. It was in fact a private joke between the RAF and the Trotters!
