The Bill – Where Are The Stars Now

In 1984 a new Police based drama appeared on our screens and became an instant hit.

The ITV show has given a career boost for many actors and actresses that are now household names including Roger Lloyd-Pack, Russell Brand, David Tennant, Keira Knightley, Paul O’Grady, James McAvoy, Emma Bunton and Ray Winstone.

Here we’re going to take a look at some of the series’ most well known recurring characters and see what they’re up to today.

Trudie Goodwin – June Ackland (1984–2007)

The last original cast member from the pilot Woodentop to depart the show, her exit was seen by many as the beginning of the end for the programme.

Goodwin’s post-Bill career has included appearances on the Loose Women panel, a spot in Countdown’s Dictionary Corner and participating in All Star Mr & Mrs and Bill Bailey’s Birdwatching Bonanza.

When The Bill was axed by ITV, Goodwin described the show as a “neglected child” that the channel had brushed aside because it wasn’t “sexy” enough.

Trudie performed in Emmerdale from 2011 through 2015 and is currently working on Strays, as Grace.
