Ant and Dec took the reigns of the coveted golden buzzer to grant brilliant magician Matt Edwards a place in the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

The Geordie favourites found the ‘old school’ magician – who had a tequila themed audition – so impressive, they activated their golden buzzer to grant him a place in the live shows.

The pair jogged on the Britain’s Got Talent stage to push the golden buzzer in front of the judges, meaning Matt was guaranteed a place in the sought after competition, regardless of what Simon Cowell and co thought of him – although they four judges had just given the magic man a fantastic review and it’s likely he would have gone through with four yeses regardless.

Speaking before the Geordie pair entered the stage, Amanda Holden said:

“We’re so distracted by you clowning and messing about that we’re not paying attention to what you’re actually doing, so therefore it’s even more magical.

“I really love you. I think you’re charming, I think you’re funny and I think you’re old school with a twist which is absolutely perfect for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’”.

Matt was literally taken aback by the golden buzzer, he could be seen hand-on-mouth walking backwards in a state of shock. He broke down in tears in front of judges and the audience.

Britain’s Got Talent continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV
