The man behind one of the most famous puppets ever. In 1976, Matthew Corbett took over Sooty from his father Harry, the puppet’s creator. He went on to be a CITV regular with The Sooty Show and later Sooty and Co.
Matthew retired in 1998 but it has been touted that he could make a cameo appearance in the alleged upcoming The Sooty Movie. Last year, the 69-year-old received an Atlantic Award for his extensive contributions in children’s education and entertainment.
Every child and their dog wanted to go on Pat Sharp’s Fun House in the 90s, least of all to see that incredible mullet in the flesh! It was one of the best children’s television programmes of the era, running for a decade, and Sharp even returned to host a special pop-up Fun House last year.
Now 55, Pat hasn’t had many major presenting roles since then, but has been a guest on various shows such as The Weakest Link, Come Dine With Me and Never Mind The Buzzocks. In addition, he was a contestant on the 2011 series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
